Before you call

My furnace is running but the house is cold — what should I check first?
Three things before you book anyone: the thermostat is set to heat and the batteries aren't dead, the furnace switch on the wall beside it is on, and the filter isn't clogged. A blocked filter is the single most common cause of a furnace that runs without heating properly. If all three check out, it's a service call.
How often does a furnace need maintenance?
Once a year, ideally before the heating season starts. Beyond keeping the unit running longer, the annual visit includes inspecting for carbon monoxide leakage — which is the part you can't check yourself and the reason not to skip a year.
Should I repair or replace?
Rough guide: under ten years old and it's almost always worth repairing. Past fifteen, especially if the repair is a heat exchanger or compressor, replacement usually costs less over the next few years than a series of repairs. We'll give you both numbers and let you decide rather than pushing the bigger sale.
Do you offer financing?
Yes — financing is available up to $100,000 with rates as low as 0% interest and low monthly payments, and rental options if you'd rather not own the equipment. The in-home consultation to work out which suits you is free.
Which brands do you install?
Amana, American Standard, Goodman and Lennox for heating and cooling; Rinnai and Navien for tankless water heaters; John Wood for tanks; and Honeywell thermostats. We recommend from what we can get parts for quickly, not from whatever carries the best rebate that month.
