Specialists in interlocking stone and flagstone, with the design, grading and planting handled as part of the same job.

Interlocking Stone

Driveways, patios and walkways laid on a properly compacted base with edge restraint, so the joints stay tight and the surface stays level.

Flagstone

Natural stone patios, steps and paths, dry-laid or mortared, set so the surface is comfortable to walk and drains where it should.

Retaining Walls

Engineered and natural stone walls that hold a grade with drainage behind them — turning a slope into ground you can actually use.

Pool Landscapes

Coping, decking and the whole surround built around a new or existing pool, coordinated with the pool builder's schedule.

Pergolas & Structures

Shade structures and outdoor features built to sit properly on the hardscape rather than bolted on afterwards.

Planting & Softscape

Grading, sod, trees and beds — finished as part of the build so the property looks complete when we hand it over.

How we build

The part nobody photographs

Every sunken driveway and heaved patio in this city failed underneath, not on top. Two crews can lay identical stone and get completely different results five winters later — the difference is all in what happens before the first paver is set.

Excavate to depth

Dug out to suit the load — deeper for a driveway than a walkway — rather than to whatever the schedule allowed.

Compact in lifts

Granular base laid and compacted in layers, not dumped and rolled once. This is where corners get cut and where failures start.

Grade for drainage

Pitched away from the house so water leaves rather than sits. Freeze-thaw does the damage, and standing water is what feeds it.

Restrain the edges

Proper edge restraint and jointing sand so the field can't creep outward and open the joints.

How it works

Four stages, no surprises

Stage 01

Site visit

We walk the property, take the levels and talk through what you want and what the budget realistically covers.

Stage 02

Design & estimate

Layout and materials worked out, with a written estimate against a defined scope. Changes on paper cost nothing.

Stage 03

Build

Excavation, base, hardscape then planting, in that order. Site cleared at the end of each stage rather than at the end of the job.

Stage 04

Walkthrough

We go over the finished work together, and you get straight answers on settling, jointing sand and how to look after it.

Before you call

My interlock has sunk. Can it be repaired or does it need redoing?
Depends what's underneath. A localised dip is often lifted, the base corrected and the same stone relaid — you keep your material and pay for labour. If the base was never built properly across the whole area, patching it just moves the problem a metre over. We'll tell you which one you're looking at before quoting.
How deep does the base actually need to be?
More for a driveway than a patio, because it's carrying vehicles, and more again on clay that holds water. Anyone who quotes a base depth before seeing your soil and your grade is guessing. It's also the easiest place to save money on a quote, which is why the cheapest number is often the one that fails first.
When should I book for this season?
Earlier than most people think. Hardscape season runs from when the ground opens up to the first hard frost, and the calendar fills by late spring. Booking the estimate over the winter costs nothing and means you're scheduled rather than waiting.
Do I need a permit?
Most patios and walkways don't. Retaining walls over a certain height, anything affecting drainage onto a neighbour, and some front-yard and boulevard work can. We'll tell you at the site visit if your job is one of them rather than discovering it midway.
Will the new stone match what's already there?
On an extension to existing interlock, honestly, rarely exactly — stone weathers and product lines change. We'll show you the closest current match and, where it matters, suggest blending the new material through the old area so the join doesn't read as a patch.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Projects of all sizes, big or small — a set of steps or a walkway is worth doing properly too, and plenty of larger jobs started as someone calling about one small thing.
