Designed, built and
grown by one family.

A residential design and build firm with its own nursery in Stouffville. We draw the plan, do the stonework, and grow a good share of what goes in the ground — so there's one number to call from the first sketch to the last plant.

  • Design and build in-house
  • Our own nursery stock
  • Serving York Region since the 1960s

What we do

Front yards, back yards, and everything between

Residential landscape work at every scale, from a single walkway to a whole property redesigned around a new pool.

Landscape Design

A drawn plan before anyone breaks ground — grading, hardscape, planting and sight lines worked out on paper while changes are still cheap.

Patios & Walkways

Flagstone, interlock and pavers laid on a base built for our frost cycles, so the surface still sits flat a decade later.

Rockeries & Retaining Walls

Natural stone and engineered walls that hold a grade properly, turning an awkward slope into usable ground.

Waterfalls & Features

Ponds, streams and waterfalls built into the grade so they read as part of the property rather than something dropped on top of it.

Swimming Pool Landscapes

The whole envelope around a new pool — decking, coping, screening and planting — coordinated with your pool builder's schedule.

Pool Fill-Ins

Old pool removed, the void engineered and compacted properly, and the yard rebuilt as usable lawn or garden.

Design & build

One firm from the drawing to the last plant

Most landscape projects go wrong in the handoffs — designer to contractor, contractor to nursery. We removed the handoffs.

  • 1
    We draw it

A proper plan with grades, materials and planting worked out, so you can see the finished yard before committing to it.

  • 2
    We build it

Our own crews do the excavation, the stonework and the planting. Nothing gets subbed out to whoever was available that week.

  • 3
    We grow it

A good share of the plant material comes off our own nursery, so we know how it was grown and how it will establish here.

Why it matters

Nobody to point at but us

When the design, the build and the plants come from one firm, there's no argument about whose fault the settling patio is. One contract, one crew, one number to call — which is how this has worked since the 1960s.

The nursery

Grown here, planted here

Trees, shrubs and perennials selected for York Region conditions rather than shipped in from a milder zone and left to struggle. A sample of what's on the ground:

How it works

Four stages, no surprises

Site visit

We walk the property, take levels, and talk through how you actually use the space and what the budget realistically covers.

Design

A drawn plan with materials and planting specified, revised with you until it's right. Changes on paper cost nothing.

Build

Excavation, grading, hardscape then planting, in that order, by our own crews. Site cleared at the end of each stage.

Walkthrough

We go through the finished work together, and you get straight answers on watering and care for everything we planted.

Planning for next season?

The best time to design is the season before you build. Book a site visit over the winter and the work is scheduled, priced and ready to start as soon as the ground opens up — rather than joining the queue in May with everyone else.

Questions

Before you call

Do I need a design, or can you just build it?
For a walkway or a small planting job, no — we can price it off a site visit. For a full yard, anything with grade changes, or anything around a pool, a drawn plan saves money rather than costing it. Getting the levels and the sequence wrong is far more expensive than designing it properly first.
When should I book for work this year?
Earlier than most people think. Design over the winter, build in spring — by the time the ground opens up the schedule is largely spoken for. If you're calling in June about a full back yard, we'll be honest with you about which season it lands in.
Do you supply the plants, or do I buy them?
We supply them, and a good share come off our own nursery here on Stouffville Road. You're welcome to come out and walk the stock — for hedging and specimen trees in particular, most people would rather pick the actual plants than approve a list.
Can you work around a pool that's being installed?
Yes, and it's most of what we do around pools. We coordinate with your pool builder so the grading, decking and planting happen in the right order — landscape work done before the pool equipment is in usually gets damaged and paid for twice.
What's involved in filling in an old pool?
More than most people expect. The structure has to be broken and drained properly and the fill compacted in lifts, otherwise the yard settles a few years later and you're regrading it. We do the removal, the engineering and the rebuild into lawn or garden as one job.
How long has the business been going?
Over sixty years, and now in its second generation as a family business. The nursery on Stouffville Road has been part of it throughout.
